About John Forbes
John Forbes is a six-term state representative running in Supervisor District 1 which includes West Des Moines, Clive, Windsor Heights and western portions of the City of Des Moines.
John retired from the Iowa Legislature at the end of 2024 after serving six terms. In two of those elections, he did not face an opponent.
John, a pharmacist, is the former owner of Medicap Pharmacies located in Polk and surrounding counties. He and his wife Cindy sold the businesses in 2022 after serving the area for over 40 years. During his career, he won many state and national pharmacy awards. He has also fundraised for and led several Honor Flights in Central Iowa, taking veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit war memorials.
